Vauxhall’s all-new Insignia is blazing a trail in the mid-size segment, adding advanced chassis technology to its impressive line-up of innovation.
The Insignia Grand Sport will be equipped with a brand new automatic transmission and ground-breaking torque vectoring, including all-wheel drive. Grip and handling are maximised with the new system, transferring unrivalled power to the road, regardless of the driving conditions.
The all-wheel drive feature works in harmony with a rear-drive module, utilizing a twin clutch system without differential. This allows torque to be applied to both rear wheels independently, or even just the one wheel as required – for example, sending additional torque to the outside rear wheel on a corner will induce rotation around the vertical axis (known as ‘yaw’).
Torque vectoring makes driving even safer by adapting distribution in accordance with throttle position, steering angle and road surface, keeping interaction with the road surface neutral; the result is a stable, steerable and enjoyable ride.
Those who wish to mix up the degree of yaw damping to suit their driving style won’t be disappointed. “Tour” and “Sport” options are both available, ensuring that being behind the wheel of a new Insignia is always a fun and safe experience.
