With dynamic performance, powerful engines, and an array of driver assistance systems, the ID.4 gives you the flexibility of an SUV and the sustainability of an electric car.

The ID.401 is on its way. The series production version of the purely electrically powered Volkswagen SUV is to be launched before the end of 2020. Designed for use in Europe, China and North America, the SUV will initially go on the market with rear-wheel drive, while an electric all-wheel drive variant will follow at a later stage.

The high-voltage battery is positioned in the sandwich-design underbody to create an optimum, low centre of gravity in terms of driving dynamics, along with an extremely well-balanced axle load distribution. Like all models based on the new Modular Electric Drive Matrix (MEB), the ID.4 will be very spacious thanks to its compact electric drive technology.

The cockpit of the zero-emission SUV is clearly structured and consistently digitalised; operation is largely via touch surfaces and intuitive voice control.

Electricity keeps you ahead

Comfortably drive to the office in the morning, quickly take the children to school beforehand and drive home in the evening – no problem with a single battery charge. 

You can chose from 52 kWh net battery capacity in the Pure equipment variant and 77 kWh net battery capacity in the Pro equipment variant along with up to 125 kW (Pure) and up to 150 kW (Pro) output.

Equipped for your equipment

Does your hobby need extensive equipment? Do you have a lot to transport for work? No problem at all for the ID.4: the optional towing bracket is designed for loads up to 750 kg (unbraked) or 1,000 kg (braked). 

If you don’t need the towing bracket at the moment, you can fold it under the bumper out of sight in a few easy steps.

Heavenly views

With a huge glass panel that stretches over the entire width of the roof, the optional tilting panoramic sunroof is an eye-catching feature in itself. Even more appealing: an unobstructed view of the sky above. 

The tinted glass also ensures pleasant temperatures in the vehicle. The sun blind protects you against strong sunshine. You can even control the sun blind using extremely convenient voice controls. Say “Hello ID., show me the stars” and the sun blind opens.

e-Technology​

Fully supplied with charging current

The advantage of electric vehicles: charging is possible almost anywhere. At home, you charge with alternating current (AC charging) via a household outlet or with an optional ID. Charger, providing a charging capacity of up to 7.2 kW or 11 kW. Many public charging stations at filling stations and motorways also offer fast charging with direct current (DC charging).

Convenient refuelling from home

With our ID. charger3 you have a filling station in your own home. Now you can get into your ID.3 in the morning and start your day full of energy. You could say it's re-fuelling in your sleep. There are two versions of the ID. charger with increasing connectivity and intelligence. Where required, it is also available with Wi-Fi, 4G and a built-in electricity meter. The intelligent functions of the ID. charger can be controlled via We Charge and in the We Connect ID. app.

Finding a charging station made easy

Through We Charge Volkswagen offers you the fitting solution for charging your ID.3 in public when on the go. Remarkably simple to use via the We Connect ID. app, you can find available charging stations nearby, plan routes with automatic charging stop recommendations and automatically pay for your charging via your We Charge charging tariff4 – including monthly billing and complete cost control. 

Throughout Europe you have access to approx. 150,000 charging points5 including the whole IONITY quick charging network, which offers varying preferential terms depending on the charging tariff. IONITY quick charging stations enable extremely short charging times and – where available in the country in question – operated with 100% renewable energy sources. The charging process at the charging stations can be started practically using the We Charge charging card or via the We Connect ID. app.

Full speed ahead

Every red traffic light becomes a new start where you can experience a completely new kind of driving pleasure. The electric motor of the ID.4 accelerates dynamically from a standstill with the motor’s full torque. For example, the Pro Performance-based models with 150 kW system power can take you from 0 to 100 km/h in only 8.5 seconds. No shifting, no delay – just drive off and experience the pure thrill.

This car sounds new

How quiet an electric car is depends entirely on the vehicle. To make road traffic safer, your ID.4 is quieter on the inside up to a speed of 18 mph and can be heard a little more clearly outside. This makes it more noticeable for pedestrians. The futuristic composition emphasises its visionary identity and simultaneously provides an artificially generated vehicle noise as an audible indication of the almost noiseless electric drives for pedestrians and cyclists.

Function in its most beautiful form

An urban SUV with a fantastic design concept combined with the turning circle of a compact car: the new ID.4 shows how attractive electric mobility can be. 

With perfectly shaped 18 inch* or optional 19 to 21 inch alloy wheels, a roof railing for additional luggage, recessed door handles for improved aerodynamics, optional 3D LED tail light clusters with dynamic turn signals and another very special highlight: an optional light line that extends to the front and rear to the newly designed Volkswagen logo.

Welcome to Open Space

The interior of the new ID.4 is so intelligently and spaciously designed that it offers you and your family an impressive sense of space. You notice this the moment you get in: plenty of legroom, a variable centre console and comfortable seats, optionally with electric adjustment and memory function. 

This is rounded out by a central touch display of up to 30.5 cm (12 inches) together with a multifunction steering wheel featuring touch operation and vibration feedback. The background lighting in your chosen colours emphasises the lounge character. You can enjoy a relaxed ride enhanced by the optional tilting and sliding panoramic roof. 

Light for almost any mood

Give your ID.4 more personality. Choose from ten standard colours (30 colours are available as an option) and gently illuminate the interior. This includes the dash panel, the mobile phone holder and the doors. Whether cooler or warmer lighting – it’s your choice.

Simply unmistakable

With the optional Exterior Style Package, the new ID.4 offers you plenty of scope to create a shining exterior, for example with your desired colour. The special thing: the optional metallic paint of your choice meets a black stepped roof, silver roof frame and C-pillar. A colour signature that plays with contrasts. Just like the ID.4 itself:

Pioneering navigation

In the new ID.4, you can keep an eye on the important things. The optional Augmented Reality Head-up Display projects important information directly onto the windscreen in your field of vision.

Thanks to augmented reality technology, you can see the navigation information on the road, exactly where you have to drive or turn off. You always reach your destination with less stress and without your eyes leaving the road.
