A NEW BEGINNING.​

Elegant touches make the new BMW iX unlike any other vehicle. Embracing a futuristic and streamlined shape, it combines minimal flat surfaces with expressive elements; as seen with the superb 22” Air Performance wheels and slender twin headlights and rear lights (the slimmest introduced on a series BMW). Other elements of style include the exterior mirrors, electric integrated door openers and a graphic window, which are all harmoniously integrated with the overall appearance

INTRODUCING SHY TECH.​

The Shy Tech concept focuses on the passengers and allows the modern technology in the BMW iX to blend into the background until needed or explicitly desired. This invisible intelligence can be experienced in many details of the exterior and interior – such as the kidney grille, which functions as an intelligent surface and houses camera technology, radar functions, state-of-the-art sensor technology and heating elements. Other examples include the invisibly embedded speakers of the audio system and the minimalist button design for the interior

Front design.

The front of the BMW iX looks to the future with bold elements and clean lines. The vertically aligned BMW kidney grille sits perfectly within the narrowest twin headlights ever mass-produced by BMW.

Side view.

Streamline contours around the wheels and beautiful design features, such as the flush door handles and frameless doors, give the BMW iX an air of confidence.

Rear design.

The modern mix of large surfaces, BMW Group's narrowest rear lights and a seamlessly integrated tailgate is a clear statement of automotive style.



INTERIOR HIGHLIGHTS.

Minimalist design.

The interior showcases modern design at its best. This is exemplified by the glass iDrive Controller on the centre console, which is framed by an elegant control panel made of FSC-certified wood.

Rear lounge seats.

With a spacious lounge atmosphere in the rear, the BMW iX comes with a suite of luxurious optional extras. These include rear seat heating and 3D loudspeakers integrated into the headrests. What's more, the rear seats split in a 40:20:40 ratio to create more luggage space.

Panoramic glass sunroof.

The Sky Lounge end-to-end panoramic glass sunroof can be electrochromically shaded to protect against direct sunlight, while offering privacy when needed.

BMW Curved Display.

The 12.3" Information Display merges with 14.9" Control Display to create a single curved display unit. It takes driver centric controls to the next level.

Hexagonal steering wheel.

Inspired by the world of racing, BMW's first hexagonal steering wheel, with new multifunctional buttons, makes getting in and driving more comfortable.

Explore the range of the BMW iX. Discover how different driving styles, ambient temperature and the use of air conditioning, affect the possible range.

Why does the range vary?

The respective range of an electric vehicle depends on various factors such as driving style, route conditions, vehicle equipment, weather conditions and payload.

In detail

High average speeds (motorway) reduce the range most significantly, while inner-city traffic leads to a higher range due to lower speed and higher recuperation shares (in contrast to vehicles with internal combustion engines). Furthermore, the range is reduced at low temperatures due to heating, and high temperatures with strong air conditioning. The vehicle load, for example the number of passengers carried as well as the amount of luggage, as well as optional equipment fitted to a vehicle can also impact the range. The selection of larger alloy wheel and tyre sizes generally reduces the range (if the aerodynamic disadvantage is not compensated for by a more closed wheel design). The rolling resistance class of tyres is also relevant for the range: e.g. the use of a winter tyre reduces the range compared to a Label A summer tyre.

General range specification and range values in this indicator

In the model selection, the communicated range is based on the WLTP (Worldwide harmonized Light-Duty Test Procedure) cycle.

WLTP enables a calculation of the range under prescribed driving conditions. WLTP assumes a defensive driving style with a route mix of city streets, country roads and highways.

The range indicator enables you to estimate the range based on the effect of three variable factors (Driving style, ambient temperature and use of air conditioning). The actual range achieved will depend on a number of other variable factors as set out in the ‘In detail’ section above.

The outer circle represents the calculated range value based on linear distances (not the actual street map), while the inner circle shows the calculated value -30% to take the real-world routes into account.

All range figures shown assume the battery has been fully charged.

What are the assumptions underlying the driving style settings?

Setting a “sporty” driving style assumes 100% driving at average motorway speeds, with more dynamic acceleration. The "economical" setting assumes defensive driving on country roads with an average speed of around 50 mph. Settings in-between produce a mixture of both.
