• The size of the battery depends on your electric model.
• For battery size figures please refer to the model specific information.
• For a quick overview download the EV&me app, it’s free and available iOS and Android stores.
• The lifespan depends on how the battery is used and the conditions it is used in.
• All Audi electric car batteries come with an 8 year/100,000 mile warranty, whichever comes first.
• The warranty for the high-voltage battery shall be void if any defects has resulted from improper use, handling or maintenance of the battery.
• Fully electric drivers can also influence the lifespan of a battery. For example, AC charging is often better for batteries than DC rapid charging. When using DC chargers, charging the battery up to just 80% instead of 100% can help protect its lifespan. You can set charging targets via the MMI. For longer journeys, we recommend a charging target of 100%, as this generates the longest range.
• The batteries have been designed with crash safety in mind. The battery concept provides a level of safety that goes beyond statutory requirements.
• The batteries are designed to be very well protected by the underbody guard and the battery housing. A solid protective frame and a combination of aluminium profiles and cast components ensure a high level of crash safety.
• The protective coating and seal are designed to fulfil very strict leak-tightness requirements. The battery systems have also been designed to provide resistance to corrosion and environmental factors.
• Audi has extensive expertise in high-voltage battery technology. For several years, engineers have been working on packaging, software, cooling, safety and vehicle integration at a centre of competence near Ingolstadt.
• 100% of electric Audis battery components are designed to be repaired when subjected to normal use.
• The state of health (SOH) of your battery can be diagnosed at your local Audi Centre.
• The battery has been designed in a way which makes it unlikely that the entire battery would need to be replaced.
• In the rare situation that a repair to the battery is required, depending on the issue, the car may need to be sent to one of our High Voltage Specialists who would diagnose and assess the battery, and if required replace or repair parts as needed.
• The Waste Batteries and Accumulators Regulations 2009 require batteries to be taken back free of charge on request. Audi Centres and Audi UK aim to make sure that high-voltage batteries are disposed of properly.
• Audi currently don’t offer these solutions, but may so in the future.
• Audi offer battery health checks and can test the capacity and state of health (SOH) of your electric car’s high voltage battery. Please contact your Audi Centre for more information.
