The new RS 3 Saloon was unveiled at the Paris Motor Show earlier this month and is set to be the most powerful five-cylinder engine on the market.
As the first compact Audi saloon to bear an RS badge, it’s backed by a powerful 2.5 TFSI aluminium engine with 400PS and 480Nm of torque (354 lb-ft), a seven-speed dual-clutch S tronic transmission and quattro four-wheel drive, and an acceleration from 0-62mph in just 4.1 seconds.
But it's not just about performance which will appeal to prospective buyers. The practical design that lies beneath the sculpted body styling, the RS Saloon is eminently suitable for everyday driving.
Compared with an A3, the front track of the RS 3 Saloon is wider by 20 millimetres and at the rear axle the wheels are spaced 14 millimetres further apart compared with the standard model.
The Audi Drive Select handling system allows drivers to choose from different modes for the car, from Comfort to Auto to Dynamic, which affects the setup of the steering, gearbox, engine management and exhaust flaps. RS Sport Suspension Plus, with adaptive damper control, is available as an option.
The Paris Motor Show is one of the most important events in the motoring calendar. Also known as Mondial de l'Automobile, it was the world's first motor show when it first opened its doors in 1898 and has been held every two years since 1976.
