With the new Mercedes-Benz AMG GT Coupé, the German manufacturer redefines what a small, fast sports car can do.
The new Mercedes-Benz AMG GT Coupé is the second car that the AMG wing of the German motoring company has been trusted to design from the ground up and, as with the SLS, they've done an exquisite job. The engine is placed at the front, making the best use of the signature elongated nose of the GT Coupé, but the GT Coupé is a small, pocket-rocket of a car and as such there are two doors placed near the rear of the body. The bodywork itself is sublime, with sporting lines drawing the eye whilst air vents add a sharp edge to the elegance on display to remind you just what this car is capable of.
Slipping into the interior of the Mercedes-Benz AMG GT Coupé is to step into a futuristic vision of sports motoring. The steering wheel has perforated segments for extra grip and the impressive high-resolution infotainment screen rises over an array of impressively thick-rimmed air vents that look like miniature jet engines. The interior itself is upholstered in a choice of fabric styles or fine Nappa and a selection of chrome trim styles are available at no extra cost. AMG performance seats are available as an extra option for those wanting more sporting support and aesthetics.
Technicians at the AMG performance wing of Mercedes-Benz are sticklers for quality, getting the best available performance from each aspect of the car. It shouldn't be a surprise then that the Mercedes-Benz AMG GT Coupé comes with a single choice of engine. The engine in question however is a 4.0-litre V8 petrol engine that is capable of 456bhp and can achieve 0-60mph in under four seconds.
The Mercedes-Benz AMG GT Coupé is a car that has been designed for maximum performance in all areas and it comes packed with safety features. As well as standard technology such as a reverse driving camera with guidelines, the GT Coupé also features high-end technology such as blind spot assist in the wing mirrors, Mercedes-Benz's lane keeping assist technology and even Collision Prevention Assist Plus, to slow the car if it comes too close to the vehicle in front. Most impressively however, is the fact that all of these systems come as standard.
