The government announced on 15 July 2025 a new Electric Car Grant scheme

offering discounts for UK buyers of some battery electric vehicles.

To qualify for the grant, models have to meet certain criteria relating to pricing and environmental impact among others. We are working with the UK Government to confirm which of our models might be eligible for a discount. 

Important update: A number of ID.3 models have been approved for the 'Band 2' criteria of the UK Goverment's Electric Car Grant scheme². The £1,500 will be automatically deducted from the purchase price for your vehicle on the retail invoice. Your chosen Volkswagen Retailer will submit the details of your order, in order to claim the grant funding. Only applicable when the final purchase price is less than £42,000 (including options and any discounts offered by the retailer).

Volkswagen UK Grant Guarantee

In the meantime, Volkswagen is pleased to announce a £1,500^⁠⁠1 Volkswagen UK Grant Guarantee.

This offer is only available to Retail customers who place an order of one of the vehicles listed below between 1st August and 12th October, where the final purchase price is less than £42,000 (including options & any discounts offered by your retailer). Customers must take delivery from 13th October.

The Electric Car Grant is a UK Government grant to promote the purchase of certain new electric vehicles. Selected VolkswagenID.4 trims are currently pending eligibility approval for this scheme. If these trims are approved and included in the scheme, then customers purchasing a qualifying vehicle will receive £1,500 off the purchase price through the Government grant where the final purchase price of the vehicle paid by the customer is below £42,000. The purchase price is defined by the UK Government/OZEV as RRP (including VAT) plus options, plus VED and minus any cash discounts a Retailer or Volkswagen UK may wish to offer. Please speak to your local Volkswagen Retailer to clarify the purchase price and subsequent eligibility for your chosen configuration. If the trims do not become eligible for the Electric Car Grant, then Volkswagen will ensure – through the Volkswagen UK Grant Guarantee – that qualifying customers purchasing selected ID.4 trims will receive an equivalent discount of £1,500 where the final purchase price of the vehicle paid by the customer is below £42,000. The purchase price is defined by the UK Government/OZEV as RRP (including VAT) plus options, plus VED and minus any cash discounts a Retailer or Volkswagen UK may wish to offer. The saving of £1,500 will be automatically applied to the on-the-road price on the retail invoice for your vehicle. The grant is available when purchasing ID.3 Pure, ID.3 Pro and ID.3 Pro S where the purchase price of the vehicle paid by the customer is below £42,000. The purchase price is defined by the UK Government/OZEV as RRP (including VAT) plus options, plus VED and minus any cash discounts a Retailer or Volkswagen UK may wish to offer. Please speak to your local Volkswagen Retailer to clarify the purchase price and subsequent eligibility for your chosen configuration. Discount excludes ID.3 GTX Performance and ID.3 GTX Fire & Ice. New cars only. The £1,500 will be automatically deducted from the purchase price for your vehicle on the retail invoice. Any discount or offer will be applied before application of the grant. Your authorised Volkswagen Retailer will submit the details of your order in order to claim the grant funding.
