FamWagen Story Introducing the FamWagen Story Starting From

FamWagen

As vets working in the Highlands we find ourselves doing a whole range of different jobs. The Tiguan works well for us.

Andrew and Jordan's story

We absolutely love living in the Highlands. It’s remote which gives us the opportunity to explore all parts of our lifestyles. We're close enough to towns for our local amenities and everything, but then we're also close enough to the outdoors, the hills, to be able to go walking. It’s great for our lifestyle and for the jobs that we do as well.

And then there were three

The lack of people, I think, is my favourite thing. It's also a great place to raise a family. It was a great place for me to be brought up as a kid, so I always knew that I wanted to come back here to start our own family.

The job day to day is really wide and varied because we're both mixed vets. We do all the major disciplines. Operations on dogs and cats in the morning, and then we can be out in the afternoon dealing with sick cows. My favourite bit is working closely with clients that become more than just clients, a lot of them become friends, you're part of their family almost.

No one said it was easy

The challenges you face working outdoors? Well, one of the big things is the weather. It can be miserable, wet and cold. Sometimes, when we’re working outdoors, we have to bring as much of our equipment with us as we can. You don't always know what you're going to need or what you're going to be presented with.

Meeting the challenge

You kind of have to think on your feet, you've always got to be as prepared as possible, as prepared as you can possibly be. It's got the snow mode which helps. It copes with anything that we've needed it to do so far. It's also comfortable as well. Being able to jump in and have the heated seats on and just feel comfortable after you've been out is great. Really nice.

Ready for anything

My average working day is challenging, rewarding and varied. The equipment we tend to carry with us regularly would be, boxes that we have all our medications and drugs in, waterproof trousers and wellington boots, I've also got equipment for doing dental. Sometimes we go out and do x-rays on cattle or sheep, or horses. So, you've got laptops and x-ray equipment and safety equipment. The Tiguan has a good, spacious boot which is able to fit all that sort of equipment into.

Clever stuff

One of my favourite features on the Tiguan is the adaptive cruise control. Although we live very much in the countryside, we’re also probably about five minutes away from a dual carriageway.

The other thing that we really enjoy about the Tiguan is the adaptive headlights. You know, for driving along country lanes and things like that. Turning into a junction, the lights shine in that direction, lighting everything up a bit more. It's definitely a lovely feature and very enjoyable to use.

Wide open spaces

There's plenty of space in the back seat for Fergus, our little one. I occasionally look after another little boy too, and there's easily enough space to have two car seats in the back. Equally, there’s plenty of space in the boot for a pram and all the extra baggage that comes along with it. We also have two dogs and there's plenty of space in the boot as well to fit a crate or even just to have them in the bed.

Fergus absolutely loves being outdoors. If you mention anything about welly boots or a coat, he'll be at the door like a shot. He watches out the window as we’re going along in the Tiguan, looking for any cows or sheep. He gets very excited when he sees anything like that.
He certainly loves being outdoors, which we like to encourage.
