Exterior

Offering you a sporty, elegant appearance.

When there is a red line stretching across the front and the radiator grille features a honeycomb design and black air intakes, then there can just be three letters on the badge: GTI. Slim LED headlights, a strikingly dynamic bumper and extended side skirts add even more expression to the sportiness of this legendary vehicle. At the back, the roof spoiler and chrome-plated tail pipes are essential features, while the LED tail light clusters round off the unique appearance.​

The highlight in your Golf GTI: IQ.LIGHT

The Golf GTI is fitted with IQ.LIGHTs as standard including powerful LED matrix headlights fitted with “Dynamic Light Assist” main-beam control light up the road and that stretch all the way round to the side wings, while sleek LED tail light clusters dominate at the rear.  The package also includes innovative dynamic turn signals that use an animated strip of lights to show which way you are turning​.​

Real highlights in bad weather

Fog, heavy snowfall or rain? Not a problem with the  LED front fog lights that come in the new 5-honeycomb design and are built into the bumper. Turn them on quickly and the world will look pretty different. And your Golf GTI will look even more striking​.

When fitted with exterior background lighting, your Golf GTI will welcome you before you’ve even climbed aboard: Operate your remote control key or start to approach the vehicle and the headlights and tail lights will light up. The door handle recesses and red strip in the radiator grille will also light up and your Golf GTI will welcome you with light projected out of the exterior mirrors onto the floor.

Interior

Outside: Fast-paced. Inside: Chilled out.

All of the components inside the GTI are carefully tailored to one another to give the vehicle its distinctively sporty look. This starts with the stainless steel pedals and extends to the decorative trims and hallmark stitching all the way to the black headliner. The LED background lighting adds accents of light in all the right places. And you’ll also notice straight away that the digital future has arrived in the cockpit. These features are dominated by high-resolution displays and the majority of functions, like the radio, air conditioning system and lighting, can be operated using touch-sensitive surfaces and sliders. Everything adapts to you

When combined with the optional “Discover Pro” radio navigation system, the Digital Cockpit Pro can be upgraded to the Innovision Cockpit. This means that both displays, measuring 10 inches (25.4 cm) and 10.25 inches (26.04 cm), are available. The resulting display landscape not only contains classic content like the rev counter, speedometer and mileage counter, but also other useful data in an even clearer and more detailed display. You can even set up favourite functions on the home screen, just like the way you would configure your smartphone.

A touch more intuitive

The classic function knobs in the cockpit have largely made way for touch-sensitive surfaces in the Golf GTI. This allows you to control the Climatronic, for example, simply and intuitively using buttons and sliders. Even the leather trim touch multifunction steering wheel can be operated with a simple tap of the finger. In combination with the intelligent menu navigation you have access to lots of functions. Haptic feedback through gentle vibration confirms every entry.​

Technology that enables you to look ahead

Being able to check all the most important information while also keeping an eye on the road: this is the main advantage of the optional head-up display in your Golf. Part of the windscreen becomes a projection area that can display your speed, messages from your driver assist systems or navigation instructions. The projection itself is still clearly legible, even when light is shining directly onto the windscreen. And you can switch off the display at any time if you no longer need it​.

Technology

Powerful. Sporty. Well trained.

With its 2.0 l TSI engine, the compact sports car delivers an impressive 245PS that hurtles you from 0 to 62 mph in just 6.4 seconds – and enables you to reach a restricted top speed of 155 mph (where law permits). This amount of power is not just fun on straight roads like motorways, but on windy country roads, too. Here, you’ll also receive a helping hand from the front differential lock, which stabilises your Golf GTI if it slips and helps you to keep control in the process. Wherever you are heading, you can make the most of this powerful engine​.

No more gear changes, but no less fun

Climb in and hit the gas: the DSG dual clutch gearbox with its brand new smaller selector lever guarantees fun behind the wheel without any interruptions. That’s because you can change seamlessly between the gears and even reduce your fuel consumption. Pressing on the selector lever enables you to easily select your chosen driving mode, which is then activated via the electrically connected shift-by-wire gearbox. Particularly handy in a traffic jam: When combined with the  Travel Assist feature, the system can help you to pull away and brake​.
