Volkswagen Golf R Introducing the Volkswagen Golf R Starting From £40,025.00

Volkswagen Golf R

The new Golf R and Golf R Black Edition now open for order.

The star of the brand now even stronger. With a maximum output of 245 kW (333 hp) as standard, the new Golf R sprints from 0 to 62 mph in just 4.6 seconds and becomes the most powerful Golf of all time. The upgraded sports car debuts with numerous design and performance highlights and an exclusive Black Edition.

Discover all the features

The Golf R is more powerful than ever and shows how quickly technology is developing.

Technology

From the racetrack directly to the road: thanks to the permanent 4MOTION four-wheel drive and powerful TSI engine with turbocharger technology and direct injection, you can enjoy an extraordinary driving experience.

Engine

The 1,984 cm3 four-cylinder turbocharged stratified injection engine (TSI) of the new Golf R represents the most powerful evolutionary stage of the engine series for production vehicles and unleashes outstanding dynamics in almost every driving situation.

R Black Edition

Elegant, sporty and unmissable: as the name suggests, the black design runs consistently through the new Golf R Black Edition. From the darkened headlights and the black tailpipe trims of the exhaust system to the dark appearance of the wheels. The dark design confidently emphasises the strength and self-confidence of the special model.

Keep an eye on the performance values

The Sport Human Machine Interface (HMI) gives you deep insight into the technology so that you can get the best from your Golf R. On your infotainment system, it shows you current engine values such as the charge pressure and G-meter as well as the power currently being used. On the track, lap timers are also used to show the current longitudinal and lateral acceleration.

Equipment & design

The premium equipment in a motorsports look and the clean design language with R-specific features set your Golf R apart.

Exterior

Self-confident down to the last detail: a new front section with air curtains and unmistakable lighting design, combined with the “R”-specific side sills, exterior mirror caps, the lower section of the rear apron and the four-flow exhaust system, create an independent exterior look that sets the Golf R apart from the other R models.

Interior

The interior of the Golf R is ergonomically tailored to the vehicle occupants. The driver and front passenger, for example, sit on stylish top sport seats with integrated headrests. They increase comfort and stability during dynamic journeys.

Infotainment

The standard “Discover” navigation system including Streaming & Internet ensures intuitive navigation with Dynamic Road Sign Display and an aerial for FM and DAB+ digital radio reception. You also have access to the entire world of networked online services from VW Connect Plus.

New alloy range

The Golf R is equipped with 18-inch “Jerez” Alloys as standard and R Black Edition is equipped with 19-inch 'Estoril' Black Alloys. All Alloys are fitted with a hub cap which for the first time features the “R”-logo instead of the “VW”-emblem and the blue-painted brake callipers with the “R”-logo are recognisable behind all rims.

Handling

The 4MOTION all-wheel drive of the new Golf R utilises R-Performance Torque Vectoring, which is already familiar from its predecessor. This allows the drive power to be variably distributed between the front and rear axles and also between the left and right rear wheels. The result: agile driving behaviour and more stability when cornering at higher speeds.

Titanium exhaust system from Akrapovič

There's something to listen to here. From as low as 2,500 rpm, the typical racing “backfire” can be heard on the outside, which is produced when the engine switches to overrun mode, i.e. when the throttle is released. A sound actuator also ensures that it sounds rougher on the inside. The sound of the now even throatier R-Performance Titanium Exhaust System by Akrapovič, which is available as an option, has also been optimised. The result: an even throatier, more emotional sound.

Assistance systems

The intelligent driver assistance systems in your Golf Estate R ensures more driving comfort and can help you deal with critical situations very well or even avoid them. Even if you only notice this technology on rare occasions, it feels good to know that it is there.

Front assist and ACC

With optional Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), you can be more relaxed on the road. The Front Assist area monitoring system includes City Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Monitoring.

Infotainment

Whether you need to make a call while driving, require current traffic information, want to reach your destination using the navigation system or simply want to listen to your own music – your Golf R offers various possibilities for using modern technology easily and in an uncomplicated way.

Navigation

The two optional navigation systems offer a wealth of innovative functions and leave virtually nothing to be desired. They will make sure you stay on course and enjoy the best of entertainment.

Volkswagen fuel consumption and CO2 emissions

"Fuel consumption and CO2 emissions figures are obtained under standardised EU test conditions (or, in cases of vehicles with WLTP type approval, are the NEDC figures provided pursuant to Government guidance until further notice). These figures facilitate direct comparison between different models from different manufacturers, but may not represent the actual fuel consumption achieved in 'real world' driving conditions. More information is available at www.volkswagen.co.uk/owners/wltp

Choosing a larger alloy wheels than standard may result in increased fuel consumption, higher CO2 emissions and subsequently the Vehicle Excise Duty (VED) and BIK rates paid for company car drivers. In some instances, the 'On the Road' cost paid for the vehicle may increase as a result of the increased VED rate. The configurator tool highlights any changes to CO2, VED or Price when selecting optional alloy wheels."
