Marshall Motor Group joins the UK Automotive 30% Club

The Club’s purpose is to achieve a better gender balance within the automotive industry, and with the aim of filling at least 30% of key leadership positions in the member organisations with women by 2030 through a “30 by 30” strategy.

Marshall Motor Group are delighted to announce that we have become a member of the UK Automotive 30% Club. The UK Automotive 30% Club is a voluntary group of MDs and CEOs from automotive manufacturing, retailing and supplier companies.

What is the “30 by 30” Strategy?

Reach Out - to attract more women

Welcome In - to remove any potential bias in recruitment

Pull Through - to pull women through the promotional pipeline

Hold On - to retain talented women

The 30% is an aspiration not a target or a quota and the aim is to share an enthusiasm to improve the gender balance in the sector, in order to improve the image of the industry, serve the customer base better, enhance company performance, and make the workplace an equitable environment by removing unconscious bias and obstacles that prevent talented women progressing up the career ladder.

Why is it important?

First and foremost it aligns to our value of Integrity and Fairness. We want an inclusive work environment which means addressing the gender imbalance in a structured and strategic way.

In addition, research shows how important this is to us, our customers and our business:

  • Women are 51% of UK license holders, 40% of UK registered owners, and influence 80% of global car purchases (Frost and Sullivan)
  • Organisations with women in senior positions globally outperform others by 34% in profit terms (World Economic Forum)
  • Organisations with at least 30% women in higher level leadership positions have significantly better financial performance than competitors (McKinsey)
  • What will we do?
    > Seek out, attract, recruit, develop and retain talented women
    > Start to actively fish in the other half of the talent pool
    > Aspire to fill 30% of key leadership positions with women by 2030
    > Give a shared message and a single industry voice
    > Create noise and buzz beyond the sector to reach parents, students, teachers, and customers

We will keep you posted with updates on our progress and continue to share the successes of some of the incredible women we already have in our business looking to further their careers with us.
