The Oxford Blackbirds are an under-14s football club who have hit the back of the net in terms charitable spirit.
Sponsored by Oxford Audi for the past two and a half years, the team have grown from strength to strength, recruiting new talent and enjoying further exposure to the local press. Massively grateful to Oxford Audi for their continued support, the team chose to give a little something back to the less fortunate.
Emblazoned with the Audi logo, the team were thrilled to receive a brand new strip this year. With the old kit still having plenty of life left, the Oxford Blackbirds donated their previous gear to The Walk Centre in Nakuru, Kenya.
The Walk Centre is a charity which aims to assist the residents of the Hilton slum; located on the edge of Nakuru’s rubbish dump, the families who live in the slum are subject to poor health and poverty, as well as being denied educational opportunities. In order to provide short-term relief, as well as attempting to break a long-term cycle, The Walk Centre provide critical resources in terms of basic schooling, food and emotional support. Their financial assistance also allows those in extreme poverty to access medical care and housing maintenance; all things that many of us take for granted.
The Oxford Blackbirds are extremely thankful to Oxford Audi for their partnership, which has allowed them to help others in turn. What a result!
